Transforming the Heart: Weekend Meditation Workshop

An awakened heart is emotionally connected, yet free from being caught in emotions, open to enlightened states of awareness yet intuitively skillful in daily life. Many of us awaken on the mental and physical level, yet remain partially blocked on the level of the heart. This workshop, based on Sally Kempton's powerful Awakened Heart transmission, explores the three main factors in holding the awakened heart: our connection to the energy of the heart center, our skill at recognizing and dissolving obstructive emotions, and our ability to open to essential feeling states. We'll use meditation, self-inquiry, sacred movement, and the wisdom of tantric philosophy to open our own heart-energy and move into the enlightened heart. We'll investigate--and lift-- some of the veils that cover the heart, moving through concepts, emotions, and obstructions that keep us from living as our best self. We'll work with such transformative processes as radical forgiveness and heart-based samyama. We'll learn how to access the inner beloved, and how to transform charged relationships, desires, and fears.

This three-hour workshop unfolds a method for relaxing into the heart in meditation, and offers powerful practices for releasing some of the core emotional obstacles that block the heart. In this workshop you'll learn:

* a meditation for entering the heart and stilling the mind

* methods for working with thoughts in meditation

* how to release blocks in the heart

* how to kindle warmth in the heart

Karma and Transformation

In the eastern traditions, it's said that karma is the most powerful force in our lives. Our pleasure and pain, our character, the way our mind works, and even our ability to practice yoga are said to be the results of karma. Yet, contrary to popular lore, karma is never fixed. Our karmas are fluid, and the more we understand how to work with the force of karma, the more we are able to turn difficult situations into blessings.

This workshop brings to life the yogic teachings on karma, exploding myths, and showing you how to chart the workings of karma in your life and the lives of others. It will help you see the distinction between the karma you're born with and the karma you create. We'll explore practices for transforming karmic difficulties, the nature of karmic agreements, and how yoga and meditation interact with karma. This workshop is designed to give you powerful insight into your life's journey, along with meditations, self-inquiry practices, and other tools for transformation.

Among the topics we'll explore:

* types of karma and how they work

* how to know when an unexpected event is destined

* karmic relationships

* changing your karma: what can and cannot be transformed

* can we take on other's karma?

* how to know when you've completed a karma

* Turning difficult karmas into blessings
